Now, more than 50 years later, paint by numbers are still around and so is Dan, telling his story about what it took to bring a
simple idea from near failure to a national craze with millions painting by the numbers and enjoying it.
It all started in Detroit in 1949, when Dan, an aspiring artist, met Max Klein, President and entrepreneur of the Palmer Paint Company.
Together, they decided to gamble that painting by numbers might make a great new product line. The rest is history.
